LeNordik Spa

Beautiful log chalets welcome you! A wonderful respite for women, couples and even corporate retreats. They can accommodate more than 200 people at this beautiful spa. LeNordik Spa isn't your normal destination spa, although it might become it. Basque in the glow of the sunlight as you step into your spacious and elegant chalet. Feel the tension drain from your body as you put on your bathing suit. Grab your sandals and plush robe, then meander across the road to the spa. Feel welcomed as you are greeted and given a bottle of water and a towel at reception. No watches. No blackberries or cell phones. Leave the laptops locked away and embark on your relaxation and rejuvenation adventure.
Step inside the eucalyptus steam room and sweat it out for 15 minutes if you can. Just keep reminding yourself how good this is for your body and how wonderful you will feel afterwards. Walk back outside to the 58 degree pool and take a quick plunge, stand under the waterfall if you dare. Then meander over to one of the peaceful relaxation areas; comfy chairs indoors or out, with a fireplace. Turn on the sunlamp if you need more heat to dry and listen to the spa music. Embrace the moment. Live for now. Allow your body to unwind, decompress and just be. Lay by one of the pools, in a gazebo or lightly swing in a hammock chair. Sip your refreshing water or maybe a green tea.
Pre-arrange your massage or body treatment at the spa. Enjoy your leisurely walk through the spa garden as you meet your massage therapist. Undress and sink into a massage table with aromatherapy for your 60 or 90 minute blissful treatment.
After your therapeutic massage, feel free to dine in your bathrobe. It's all good! From healthy entrees to chocolate fondue, we won't tell!
The bathes are open until 10 pm. Feel free to take another excursion into the steam, or dry saunas, the pools, dont' worry, one is actually 98 degrees. Then allow the breeze to gently dry you off, or don your robe and return to your fabulous chalet! Ensconced in your domain, watch a movie on the plasma tv, listen to music and play foosball, or just sit and read by the fireplace.

Plan your escape now to LeNordik Spa. Get away for a weekend or more. Your body, mind and soul require it.

Increasing Your Metabolism

We all would like more energy. How do we do this? By ramping up our metabolism. We can do this with foods or...
1. In your workout. Walk for the same amount of time at the same intensity every day and your body will get bored. Add a little variety with interval training, this involves changing the intensity during your exercise program. Every 5 minutes of your walk, jog for one minute. If you bike ride, shift to a higher gear and pedal harder for a minute, if you swim, speed up every other length. You'll burn more calories in the same amount of time.
2. Fidgeting. People who drum their fingers or bounce their knees burn at least 500 calories a day. this adds up to one pound per week!
3. Stress balls. By squeezing one of those squeegy balls, during the day, its a great exercise for the muscles in your hands and arms, and it burns a lot of calories.
4. Don't cut back too much. Cutting too many calories can be more harmful than you think. Substitute other healthy food; carrots, celery with peanut butter, apple slices, etc.
5. Drink water! Drinking at least 5 glasses, 16 ounces each, is good for your skin and your organs, detoxing the body. Researchers have also found that by drinking water, yo will burn more calories, and increase your metabolic rate. Your metabolic rate can jump a third within 10 minutes of drinking cold water.

Leaders are Made, not Born

Don't Get Tripped Up on Power
The 8 Cs for keeping power in prospective

Leaders are found in almost every stratum of life - in companies, politics,
and in social organizations such as families, groups of friends, etc.
Leaders are powerful people because they have the ability to sway the
attitudes, opinions, and actions of others. Leaders inspire, influence and
achieve results.

Everyone has the capacity to lead.  That is because everyone has the ability
to influence others.

Developing the right leadership strategy for the people you lead is crucial
to getting the results you desire.  Therefore, it is important that you
strengthen your skills to better influence, motivate, communicate and coach
your people.

Contrary to what many might think, few people are born as leaders.
Leadership is a skill that is developed over time, through practice and hard
work.

§ Character.  As a leader you will undoubtedly be confronted with competing
demands from time to time.  The ability to manage these demands with
integrity, honesty. And selflessness becomes crucial at times like these.
Being willing to sacrifice your success, your fortune, and even your life
takes guts.  Being unwilling to sacrifice your integrity takes character.
§ Courage.  Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "The ultimate measure of a
man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where
he stands at times of challenge and controversy."  Courageous individuals
take calculated risks.  They hope for the best possible outcome but are
prepared for a loss.

Wellness Training

Revenues for the industry held at $23.8 billion in 2009, only off 2008’s pace by 1.5 percent. When you consider the recession, the high unemployment rate and the massive numbers of foreclosures and loan defaults, that’s not a horrible statistic, according to industry expert (www.slimandfit.com) and former 8 Minute Abs guru Jaime Brenkus. In fact, he even knows why the industry is reasonably healthy amid a weak and floundering economy.

“It’s called wellness,” Brenkus said. “The industry, as a whole, is shifting its focus from just getting well-defined and fit toward the more general concept of wellness. As people are losing jobs and losing health benefits, they are realizing it is much less expensive to invest in their wellness than it is to pay for doctor visits when they get sick. If people are fit and healthy, they are far less prone to succumb to whatever bug is going around. That’s money in the bank for a lot of people, and they get to enjoy a better quality of life, as well.”

Brenkus understands that paradigm well, as he is also behind a chain of health clubs called Slim & Fit, which has combined the functions of personal training with the weight loss counseling and meals usually associated with outfits like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. Brenkus is currently expanding into new markets around the country, and is already seeing the difference in the members who join.

“With a lot of people, they’ll join a gym, and go religiously for a few weeks, and then disappear, and they never get the value out of their membership,” he said. “Our members have a high usage rate, because we’re not just about making them fit with a personal training program, but we’re also about making them fit with our diet program. We’re trying to deliver wellness, not just muscles, and that’s the trend that kept the industry from tanking during the recession.”

Brenkus also thinks that there is another non-traditional health club clientele that could benefit from exercise and diet counseling -- children.

Walk a little, Run a Little

For those who are looking for more cardiovascular conditioning, running is better than walking. However, walking is better for weight loss when it comes to exercise.
Moderately intense exercise, like a brisk walk, burns higher percentage of fat calories than high-intensity exercise. Walking is low-impact and is great for all ages and fitness levels.
This is great for families, or moms or dads with kids, take a brisk walk around the block or your subdivision. Make a fun game of it; find different birds and other critters. Before you know it your kids will keep you on your toes with scavenger hunts along with their energizing walks.
You may even find your family participating in 5K runs/walks in and around your community for a charity.
Tip: Start slow. It's better to walk 5 or 10 minutes per day and work your way up than to overdue it and then be less frequent and not enjoying your walks. Build up to a jog or run if you desire, or are training for a 5K or marathon.
Don't put off exercise until you're training for a marathon. Gather the kids, grab a bottle of water and enjoy family fitness. Or hook up with a neighbor and make a religious habit of walking together, take the dog if you need to.

Avon linked to Cancer with toxic ingredients

Chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition, Dr. Samuel Epstein, is warning women that toxic ingredients in Avon Products put users at risk of cancer and hormonal changes.

For this reason, Dr. Epstein is urging the National Cancer Institute to terminate plans for a joint project with Avon until the company reformulates its products to replace all toxic ingredients with safe alternatives.

A class of ingredients in Avon products, parabens, has been shown to stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells in laboratory tests and parabens have been identified as possible causes of breast cancer, Dr. Epstein points out.

Used as preservatives, parabens mimic the hormone estrogen, which is known to play a role in the development of breast cancers.

Dr. Epstein is concerned about cancer-causing ingredients in all cosmetics and personal care products, but he is particularly concerned about Avon Products because of a newly announced collaboration with the National Cancer Institute, a U.S. government agency.

Thai Massage and Yoga

Originating in the Far East, Thai Massage is more energizing and rigorous than more classic forms of massage. Thai massage is also called Thai yoga massage, because the therapist uses his or her hands, knees, legs and feet to move the recipient's body in a series of yoga-like stretches. Muscle compression, joint mobilization and acupressure are also used during treatment. People describe Thai massage as both relaxing and revitalizing.

Natural Anti-aging Skin care products

Skin care dates back centuries to healing from hot stones and inhalation of fragrant herbal waters, men and women used various herbs and creams from nature for their anti-aging remedies. One of the more popular ingredients used centuries ago and is gaining in popularity again, is Shea butter, a.k.a. soap bark. It is a natural fat from the Karite tree and the nut. It has been shown to increase blood flow to the skin and provide protection from the environment, as well as moisturize the skin.
Orange oil is often used to reduce inflammation and the eyes and remove toxins from your skin, it may also increase the circulation to your skin and is very moisturizing.
These are a few ingredients that are great in cleansers, and as for moisturizers: Vitamin E and aloe are known for their antioxidant properties and ability to heal the skin. Aloe is also soothing and hydrating. Almond and avocado oils make up the base for wonderful moisturizers with anti-aging effects. Both are known for their soothing and moisturizing qualities. And royal bee jelly, which comes from bees and has pollen, vitamins, minerals and other ingredients that are known to benefit the skin.

Drink your way to good skin care?

Skin care and other companies are jumping on a trend to offer "drinkable skin care" products. One company we're researching, Borba Skin Care offers a flavored water drink, claiming age defying qualities. So far there is no scientific or testimonial studies to back up this claim.
We can't replace all of our nutrients, vitamins and minerals with a drink, as wonderful as it sounds. Many of the products out there, whether sold in stores or through independent reps, most of the "nutrients" aren't even absorbed into the body or blood system.

Muscadine grapes and antioxidants

Studies conducted by the National Cancer Institute, the University of Florida and the Nutraceutical Research laboratories at the University of Georgia found that the Muscadine grape possesses one of the highest antioxidant levels among fruits. Antioxidants play a key role in the maintenance of healthy immune system.
Their findings also showed the Muscadine holds anti-inflammatory properties, the ability to lower bad (LDL) cholesterol while raising good (HDL) cholesterol and inhibit the growth of prostrate and breast cancer cells.

Chemical Peels

Stress, anxiety, pressure of daily life and pollution are visibly reflected in the condition of the skin.
Chemical peels and microderm abrasions are a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin. In this treatment a chemical solution is applied to the skin which causes it to "blister" and eventually peel off. The new regeneration skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin and will be temporarily more sensitive to the sun.
Chemical peels can be performed on the face, neck or hands. They are used for:
* reducing fin lines under the yes and around the mouth
* treat wrinkles caused by sun damage, aging and hereditary factors
* improve the appearance of mild scarring
* Treat certain types of acne
* reduce age spots, freckles and dark patches due to pregnancy or taking control pills (melasma)

Save your sole

Athlete's foot, tinea pedis, not a pleasant subject, but necessary to reveal. Athlete's foot is a very common fungal infection and if not addressed right away and correctly it can spread to the toenails. Common symptoms include: burning, itching of the feet and peeling of skin in between the toes. It can be picked up while at the gym, or in a motel shower or even at a public swimming pool.
People with diabetes and those who have other circulatory problems, are in danger of the infection getting worse, to the point of gangrene if not caught and treated.
A good homeopathic remedy can be found on our website: www.floridaspagirls.net
