Drink your way to good skin care?

Skin care and other companies are jumping on a trend to offer "drinkable skin care" products. One company we're researching, Borba Skin Care offers a flavored water drink, claiming age defying qualities. So far there is no scientific or testimonial studies to back up this claim.
We can't replace all of our nutrients, vitamins and minerals with a drink, as wonderful as it sounds. Many of the products out there, whether sold in stores or through independent reps, most of the "nutrients" aren't even absorbed into the body or blood system.

Muscadine grapes and antioxidants

Studies conducted by the National Cancer Institute, the University of Florida and the Nutraceutical Research laboratories at the University of Georgia found that the Muscadine grape possesses one of the highest antioxidant levels among fruits. Antioxidants play a key role in the maintenance of healthy immune system.
Their findings also showed the Muscadine holds anti-inflammatory properties, the ability to lower bad (LDL) cholesterol while raising good (HDL) cholesterol and inhibit the growth of prostrate and breast cancer cells.

Lipsticks, Lead and Limits

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulates cosmetic safety under the authority of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act). The FD&C Act requires that cosmetics marketed in interstate commerce be safe when used as directed in the labeling or under customary conditions of use. Cosmetics are not subject to pre-market approval by FDA. However, pre-market approval is required for the color additives used in cosmetics (including those in lipsticks) and other FDA regulated products (with the exception of coal-tar hair dyes). To learn more on this subject please refer to the FDA Authority Over Cosmetics.
The FDA has not set limits for contaminants, such as lead, in cosmetics. However, FDA does set specifications for impurities, such as lead, for color additives used in cosmetics. FDA approval of color additives is based on safety evaluations that consider the color additive's intended use(s) and estimated consumer exposure resulting from those uses. FDA-approved color additives are listed in Title 21 of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). To learn more about FDA approved color additives, please refer to Color Additives.
What are the FDA's limits for lead in color additives?

Chemical Peels

Stress, anxiety, pressure of daily life and pollution are visibly reflected in the condition of the skin.
Chemical peels and microderm abrasions are a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin. In this treatment a chemical solution is applied to the skin which causes it to "blister" and eventually peel off. The new regeneration skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin and will be temporarily more sensitive to the sun.
Chemical peels can be performed on the face, neck or hands. They are used for:
* reducing fin lines under the yes and around the mouth
* treat wrinkles caused by sun damage, aging and hereditary factors
* improve the appearance of mild scarring
* Treat certain types of acne
* reduce age spots, freckles and dark patches due to pregnancy or taking control pills (melasma)
